Moor Place
Moor Place is a tiny, jewel-dark pompon with the coloring of mulberry wine. Her tightly rolled petals form precise little globes in deep purple, wine, and burgundy, bringing rich color and beautiful repetition to bouquets without competing with larger focal flowers. At under two inches across, she is small in scale but wonderfully saturated.
🌱 2027 Grow-Out
Moor Place will arrive at Hedge & Alchemy in Spring 2027 and will be grown here for the first time that season. She will not be offered in our 2027 tuber sale.
🕯️ History & Preservation
Moor Place is an English heirloom from the mid-1950s, bred by Alan Newnham and commonly listed as a 1955 introduction. Nearly seventy years later, she remains in cultivation and is still grown for both cutting and the show bench. Cultivars with this kind of longevity are exactly why I want to keep older dahlias growing, dividing, and moving into future gardens rather than letting them fade into old catalogs.
